Dear Wayside friends and family,
You’ve been hearing a lot about Wayside this year. You’ve seen photos of our high energy Bring It! Youth Organizers, or seen facebook posts pop up on your feed about Interpreters’ For Social Justice trainings. Maybe you even watched one or two of the videos we’ve posted of workshop participants. The movement for social justice is growing stronger in Virginia and the region, and Wayside is right in the middle of it.
It’s true that we’ve witnessed a lot of inspiring gatherings go on at Wayside. ?This was our first year running after our seed grant ran out, and we made it through the year thanks to you! Your donations came when we needed them, and no one was ever turned away from a Wayside workshop or rental for lack of funding.
And as we plan on how to make another year possible, ?I’m asking you to consider including Wayside in you giving this year.
You may be starting to think of seeing loved ones and what kind of presents to get them.?If you’re like me, you’re already starting to get overwhelmed with the ramped up consumerism of it all. ?In the end, though, I have a hard time getting through the holidays without at least a little spending on loved ones.?How much will you spend $50 on gifts this year? $100? More? How can important social change groups like Wayside fit into your year end planning?
The thing about places like Wayside is that we truly can’t do it without your support. Wayside doesn’t fit into traditional foundation grants, and we don’t accept corporate money. We’ve built Wayside to be strong from the bottom up. Regular folks trying to make a difference in their communities, like you, are backbone of Wayside programming. We also rely on you to be the backbone of our funding.
Over the next month, as you budget for holiday travel, giving, and celebrating, take a second to make a gift of $100, $50, or $25 for Wayside. ?We need you by our side as we walk into 2013 for another year of building a better world.
Best of wishes and cheers to justice and solidarity in 2013,
