From the Defenders:
1 pm Monday July 22nd John Marhall Courts Building – Courtroom 311, 400 N. 9th St., Richmond, VA 23219 facebook event.
Ashley Williams, wrongfully convicted of being responsible for the tragic death of her 2-year-old son D’Sean, is scheduled to be sentenced to prison on Monday, July 22. The jury recommended a seven-year sentence. The judge has the power to reduce this time, but he would need to see that Ashley still has the community support she has received throughout her long ordeal. Please help show that support by joining her sisters, other relatives, friends and supporters in the courtroom. Show Ashely that, no matter how cruelly she has been treated by the court system, the Medicaid system, Social Services and the commercial media, she still has the love of the community. Note: At her trial, the Commonwealth Attorney’s office and Social Services packed half the courtroom with employees – on City time! – to try and give the false impression that the community was split on its view of this case. This was just the latest in a long history of manipulative and deceptive tactics the City has used to try to cover the fact that it knew Ashley was innocent. We must not let them succeed again. Please come early to make sure you can get into the courtroom. And sit behind Ashley and her defense team – not behind the prosecution.
